Windows 2000 - Creating a Connection

  1. On your Windows desktop, double click on the My Computer icon.
  2. When the My Computer window opens, double click on the Control Panel icon.

  3. The Control Panel window opens. Double click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.

  4. The Dial-Up Networking window opens. Double click on the Make New Connection icon.

  5. The Network Connection Wizard window opens.
  6. Click on the Next > button to proceed.

  7. Click on Dial-up to the Internet and click on Next > button to continue.

  8. Click on "I want to setup Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network[LAN]".
  9. Click on the Next > button.

  10. Click on the option box "I connect through a telephone line and a modem".
  11. Click on the Next > button.

  12. Select the modem type that you have installed previously and click on the Next > button to continue.

  13. Type in the PromiseLink access number that you're going to use.

  14. Type in your user id and password. Click on the Next > button.

  15. Type in PromiseLink at the Connection Name prompt.

  16. Click on the option box No and click on the Next > button.
    (If you would like to configure the mail account, you can check on the option box Yes to continue)

  17. Click on the Finish button to end the setup.

  18. You will see an icon for PromiseLink in the Network and Dial-Up Connections folder.
